This course is required for all Sayreville youth sport coaches by Ordinance and State Law.Zoom Link will be provided on Wednesday June 11, 2025  There will be random attendance checks and polls during the course, so even though it is virtual, you must be engaged in the course in full to meet the requirement to complete the course. OverviewThe SAFETY (Sports Awareness For Educating Today’s Youth) Clinic is a three-hour program that informs coaches on the psychological, legal, and medical/first aid aspects of coaching as well as general coaching concepts and training/conditioning youth athletes.  Benefits Protects volunteer coaches with partial civil immunity (NJAC 5:52) Protects leagues, sponsors, & municipalities who certify their coaches with partial civil immunity (2A:62A-6 et. seq.) Gives coaches ease of mind to focus on athlete development instead of liability issues. Objectives Help volunteer youth sport coaches to  Minimize the risk of injuries to young athletes by promoting safe play  Understand basic coaching techniques  Encourage good sporting behavior and teamwork  Communicate effectively with parents, guardians & youth athletes

Throughout the camp, students will delve into the Too Good for Drugs curriculum, provided by the Mendoza Foundation. This evidence-based program equips children with valuable life skills, teaching them how to resist peer pressure, make positive choices, and build healthy relationships. Through interactive lessons, games, and activities, campers will develop a strong foundation for a drug-free lifestyle. On the culminating day of Camp Willabee, students will celebrate their commitment to a drug-free future with a Dug Free celebration at Chuck E Cheese in Edison, NJ. This exciting outing rewards campers for their dedication and reinforces the importance of staying drug-free in a fun and supportive environment. Camp Willabee 2025 runs from Wednesday, June 26th to Friday, June 28th, with sessions held from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm each day.  Join us for three days of learning, growth, and celebration as we empower our youth to lead healthy, drug-free lives. We do not offer multi-child discounts.Based on counselor-to-camper ratio requirements, there is a maximum number of campers permitted at camp. A wait-list will be formed after the camp reaches capacity.Early Drop Off / Before Care For families who need an extra hour in the morning, we are offering a Before Care option from 8:00am to 9:00am, for an additional fee. If you need to drop your child off at camp before 9:00am, they must be registered for the before care option. There is a limited number of spaces available for this option.COUNSELOR IN TRAINING PROGRAM FOR AGES 13-14Our counselor in training program for teenagers ages 13 and 14 at the start of camp. Program participants will receive training and the opportunity to "shadow" a camp group with an experienced counselor. Participants will learn leadership skills, safety training, and how to be a positive role model for younger youth.Admission to the CIT program is based on an application and interview. Information will be in the "files" section below in the coming days. There is a fee for the CIT program and must be paid upon acceptance into the program.Program PhilosophyThe goal of Sayreville Recreation's Burke's Park Camp is to provide campers with a safe and engaging summer. Our philosophy is to provide an exciting program to engage campers in new physical, creative, and cognitive challenges and to create and develop meaningful friendships.

A wait-list will be formed after the camp reaches capacity.Early Drop Off / Before Care For families who need an extra hour in the morning, we are offering a Before Care option from 8:00am to 9:00am, for an additional fee. If you need to drop your child off at camp before 9:00am, they must be registered for the before care option. There is a limited number of spaces available for this option.COUNSELOR IN TRAINING PROGRAM FOR AGES 13-14Our counselor in training program for teenagers ages 13 and 14 at the start of camp. Program participants will receive training and the opportunity to "shadow" a camp group with an experienced counselor. Participants will learn leadership skills, safety training, and how to be a positive role model for younger youth.Admission to the CIT program is based on an application and interview. Information will be in the "files" section below in the coming days. There is a fee for the CIT program and must be paid upon acceptance into the program.Program PhilosophyThe goal of Sayreville Recreation's Burke's Park Camp is to provide campers with a safe and engaging summer. Registration Opens March 17, 2025Come join us for some Summer Sports fun!Sayreville Recreation is offing Summer Sports Camps at Borough Hall ALL CAMPS ARE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 9:00am - 2:30pm (unless noted) Playground Games - June 30-July 3Basketball - July 7-11  Flag Football - July 14-18  Lacrosse - July 21-25 Softball - July 28-August 1Volleyball-August 4-8 Soccer - August 11-15 Field Hockey - August 18-22Campers need:  plenty of water; lunch(inside the Rec.Center at 12pm) and wear appropriate sports attire. Inclement weather camp will be held in the gym at Wilson School.(parents will be notified) All coaches are CPR and Epi-pen certified
